Greetings my beloved readers!
Have you ever ‘winged it’ in the kitchen? You know? When you improvised a popular recipe?
Well, I did. Here are the results!
Sautéed Indian-Style Ground Beef (and Rice)
Ingredients:
Ø ½ yellow onion
Ø 1 roma tomato
Ø 1 lb of ground beef
Ø 2 tbsp. of vegetable oil
Ø 1 tbsp. of curry powder
Ø 1 cup of plain yogurt
Ø 1 tsp of sugar
Ø ½ tsp of red pepper flakes
Ø 2 tsp of cinnamon
Ø 1 tsp of oregano (or rosemary)
Ø 1 tsp of chili powder
Ø 2 boiled potatoes
Ø Rice (optional)
Ø Naan bread (optional)
Servings: 2-3 people
Instructions:
Ø Set two potatoes to boil for 30 mins or until fork can mostly pierce through it. At this point you may set rice to boil sprinkling it with cinnamon as it boils.
Ø After about ten minutes of the potatoes boiling mix spices and yogurt in a mixing bowl. Stir ingredients well until mixture is brown in color and all spices’ aromas are captured.
Ø In a skillet cook ground beef in oil. Add chopped Roma Tomato and Onion to skillet and stir around until meat is no longer pink.
Ø Add yogurt and spice mixture to meat and stir well. Add potatoes (now softened but not overly so) to mixture and stir.
Ø Serve with naan bread and rice.
Enjoy!
